Local efforts can be grouped in three stages of music strategy development.

So many cities are engaging in different versions of music policy or music strategy work, led in most cases by City government, local nonprofits, industry groups or universities. No matter who is catalyzing the local effort, they would benefit from access to a network of collaborators, mentors and coaches.

  1. Early Process: Beginning to understand what is possible, how to develop and implement a research agenda and long-term considerations.

  2. Groundwork & Research: Basic groundwork has been laid but support is needed to design/implement research and network building strategies.

  3. Implementation: Research is complete but needs to be contextualized, strategic initiatives shaped and stakeholder engagement fully activated.
